I have trained in martial arts for the past 19 years, 9 of them in kyokushinkai. I joined Caerphilly dojo in 2006 and gained my 1st Dan in 2012 and 2nd Dan in 2014. I also train at other dojos when work prevents me from making my normal classes. Over the past 9 years I have competed in knockdown, clicker and kata competitions at regional and national level. I also assist with teaching and organising club events.

I have trained in martial arts for the past 22 years, 20 of those in Kyokushinkai. I started out as A student of Caerphilly club where i gained my 1st Dan.  at the age of 32  i started fighting knockdown and represented Britain and Wales at a very high standard national and international fighting some of the best light weights at the time.  Although no longer an active fighter. I was Also the until 2019 the Welsh senior knockdown coach as well as one of the Great British senior knockdown coaching staff. I am also a qualified national and internationally knockdown referee. Up until taking over at caerphilly i had been training and teaching in Cardiff dojo under Shihan Terry Prescott 6th Dan where i obtained my 2nd and 3rd Dan’s

Senpai Richard 2nd Dan

I joined Caerphilly Dojo in 2010 having transferred from another style. In this time I have trained regularly & consistently 5/6 times a week. I have been an active & regular supporter of the Welsh & GB knockdown squads as well as immersing myself in the disciplines of Kata, clicker & refereeing.The culmination of my time have resulted in obtaining my Shodan in 2012 & Nidan in 2014 .I have competed in various tournaments across the disciplines, having represented Wales three times in knockdown. In 2012 I captained the Squad against England & most recently was Captain in the inaugural Wales v Ireland 2011.I continue to learn & grow as a Kyokushin Karateka within Caerphilly Dojo & it's supportive network. I look forward to the future.
